Dani Shanley is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASoS) at Maastricht University. Dani joined BISS at the beginning of 2025 as a researcher in Smart Ethics where her first major assignment will be the ELSA Lab.
Dani’s research expertise lies primarily within Science and Technology Studies (STS) and the philosophy of technology, with a particular focus on reflexive, participatory design methodologies such as social labs and value-sensitive design (VSD).
Dani is largely interested in questions concerning the ethics and politics of new technologies. She currently works on AI and robotics, thinking with and through the lenses of responsible innovation, hype, and anti-intellectualism.
